THE FINAL TOUCH HOMEOWNER GUIDES

Preparing Your Home for Drywall Work

A little preparation makes a drywall project easier to talk through. You do not need to know the technical terms. A few photos and a clear sense of what matters to you are a good start.

Before you contact Josh

Take a wide photo of the room and a close-up of the problem. Share your location, the approximate size of the area, and whether the damage is new or has been repaired before. If there was a leak or another underlying issue, explain what has been done about it.

Talk about budget and priorities

Let Josh know whether your main priority is the repair, the appearance of the whole wall, or getting the space ready for another project. Share a budget if you have one. Affordable pricing works best alongside a clear scope: what is included, what is separate, and what the finish should look like.

Make access straightforward

Before the agreed start, discuss what needs to move and who will move it. Small personal belongings, fragile decorations, and items near the work area may need a safe place elsewhere. Mention stairs, parking restrictions, pets, and anything that affects access to the room.

Ask about protection and timing

Josh takes pride in neat, organized sites and careful cleanup. Agree on how the area will be arranged and what access the household will have during the work. Ask about drying time and return visits rather than judging the schedule only by the size of the patch.

Finish with a shared understanding

Before work starts, confirm the expected surface finish, whether painting is included, and the cleanup plan. At the end, ask any questions about the repaired area and the next steps. The goal is for you to feel heard and taken care of from the first message through the final touch.

Do I need to empty the entire room?

That depends on the work and the available space. Ask Josh what should be moved before you start rearranging furniture.

General homeowner information. The right approach depends on the material, condition, and scope of your project. Discuss the details with Josh before deciding on the work.

PERSONAL CARE. A CLEAN FINISH.

You don’t need all the answers.
That’s what a conversation is for.

Tell Josh what’s going on in your home. He’ll listen, discuss your priorities and budget, and help you understand the next steps.
